7 Easy Tricks to Paint your House on your own

Before you pick up a brush, learn which tricks will help you become an expert in painting!

Painting may seem like a hassle to you, but no one can deny the fact that paint transforms any space in a flash. To help you become a painting expert, we present you 7 tricks that will help you turn the process of… painting into a breeze.

#1 Clean thoroughly the walls Wipe the surface you want to paint with a dry-cleaning cloth. In this way, you will manage to remove the dust from your walls effectively without any extra trouble.

#2 Rock n’ Roller Dip the roller into the special inclined container making gentle movements so that it “gets” enough paint so that it does not drip and is covered evenly.

#3 Test To confidently choose the right shade, all you have to do is paint a small area of your wall. Leave it for 2-3 days to see how it looks at different times of the day, always observing it in relation to the furniture and lighting of your space.

#4 Don’t follow a straight line A straight line may be the shortest way to get to your destination but the same is not true when you paint. Start painting in a W pattern and spread the paint on the wall to remove most of the paint. Then, with movements from top to bottom, fill in the inner points of the W. In this way, you will achieve an even distribution of the color on the wall since in the first “turns” the roller leaves quite a bit more paint.

#5 Use the Brush Using the above technique, brush over the “difficult” parts of the wall, that is, those that need more attention to… detail! These are the places that are close to the skirting boards or the places where you have put tape.

#6 Don’t forget your lip balm In addition to moisturizing your lips, lip balm (and petroleum jelly) helps you become a master of coloring. Use it on handles, hinges and window frames, knobs and sockets and switches on the surface you intend to change the color. This way, you will be able to clean them very easily in case they get stained with paint.

#7 Dark Colors And yet the transparent or white primer is not always a one-way street. The rare exception is if you want to paint your walls a shade darker than what you already have. So, to reach the final result… with fewer coats of paint, prefer a dark primer.
